Description

The Australian Muslim Social Services Agency (AMSSA) is a not-for profit organization based in Melbourne Victoria, that provides services that are tailored for the experiences and needs of the growing Muslim community in Australia.

AMSSA was established in 1990 with the sole purpose of creating a space or (a mosque) where the Muslim community could offer their daily prayers, however as the needs of the emerging Muslim community grew, AMSSA took the responsibility of providing the space and the support required to address those needs.

Today AMSSA has grown to become a well-recognized services provider and has built partnerships with more than 100 organizations (both public and private) to deliver services that will enable a vibrant Muslim community that will contribute to a diverse and resilient Australian Society through the values of Islam.

THE JAMELA HAT COLLECTION….

Jamela Hat was created through one woman’s struggle to find a hat that “FIT”.

As someone who wore the hijab and also loved the outdoors, being safe from the harsh rays of the sun intertwined with a keen eye for fashion, a hat that “fit” that incorporated all of these things was impossible to find.

Seher, founder, designer & owner,  decided to design her own.

Ever tried fitting a hat over your hijab, in the gorging heat, that you had to shove into, only to sweat more from the tight fit and than take it off for your hijab to fall out of place.. hair sticking out… looking very unfashionable… hat sitting way above your head…? I’ve been there. so when spring was fast approaching and struggling to find something that “fit” & that was “fashionable” to wear, i decided to create my own range of hat that reflected my style, beliefs and philosophy.

After weeks of sketching designs, talking to woman of all faiths about the difficulties they faced when heading to the beach or outdoors under the sun, I set to work creating The Jamela Hat range.

Inspired by some of my favourite looks from Audrey Hepburn, modified to meet the needs of the head covering; the Jamela hat, has all the elegance of classic Hollywood & Minimalist design.
