Hello and welcome to StrongHER with Zara! My name is Zara, and I am thrilled to share my journey and passion with you. As a busy mom, teacher, and family business owner, I know firsthand the challenges of juggling multiple responsibilities. For years, I found myself drowning in work and feeling flat, especially while dealing with PCOS, which affected my hormones and contributed to weight gain.
Like many women, I used to put myself last. I had an unhealthy relationship with my body and food, lacking confidence and self-love. I felt that prioritizing myself was selfish. However, in 2014, I made a life-changing decision to join a gym. This decision sparked a love for training and eating healthy, and soon, my hormones began to regulate. I discovered a newfound love for myself and developed a healthier relationship with my body and food.
Initially, I trained six days a week for three hours each day. While I was fit, I realized I needed to manage my time better. I didn’t have hours to spend at the gym. That’s when I stumbled upon a coach who taught me how to cultivate a positive relationship with my body and food. I learned there are no shortcuts to building your dream body. My goal was to grow my glutes, but my previous routine, while beneficial for fitness, wasn’t helping me achieve my specific body goals.
Through my journey, I found a way to balance my goals with my busy lifestyle, becoming more self-accountable and loving my body at every stage. I learned that self-love is not selfish; it’s a way to fill your own cup and love yourself as you love others. Taking the time to train and eat healthy not only makes you feel great but also boosts your confidence and self-esteem—and yes, it helps with carrying those extra grocery bags!
